Engineered as a direct replacement for Hayward OEM part number PVXH008PK2, the Swimables SW-61-008 is a 2-pack of small drive gears built for Hayward AquaNaut and Poolvergnuegen suction-side pool cleaners. The small drive gear sits inside the cleaner's drivetrain and is responsible for transferring rotational power from the turbine to the steering mechanism, which is what enables smooth directional changes, reliable wheel rotation, and consistent coverage of pool floors and walls during the cleaning cycle. When the small drive gear wears down or chips a tooth, it becomes a leading cause of erratic steering, stalling, and uneven pool coverage in AquaNaut and PoolCleaner series models, with the symptoms often misread as suction or hose problems rather than internal gear wear. The SW-61-008 ships as a 2-pack with enough gears for a complete drivetrain refresh, restoring full cleaner performance at a small fraction of the cost of replacing the entire unit.
- Drop-In Fit for Hayward PVXH008PK2: Engineered to OEM specifications for the small drive gear position in Hayward AquaNaut 200, 250, 400, and 450 cleaners and Poolvergnuegen 2-wheel and 4-wheel suction-side pool cleaners, the SW-61-008 installs as a direct replacement during drivetrain rebuilds without requiring modifications, shims, or adapters at the gear position.
- Brings Steering Back Online: Because the small drive gear is the link that transmits turbine power to the steering mechanism, replacing a worn pair with the SW-61-008 set restores the cleaner's ability to navigate pool surfaces precisely, eliminating the erratic movement, stalling, and missed cleaning lanes that surface as the original gears wear and lose tooth profile.
- Two Gears for a Balanced Repair: Each SW-61-008 kit includes two small drive gears so both positions in the drivetrain can be replaced at the same time, supporting balanced, even power delivery through the gear train and avoiding the uneven wear pattern that develops when only one of the two gears is refreshed.
- Built for Continuous Cleaner Duty: The SW-61-008 gears are molded from premium wear-resistant pool-grade plastic designed to withstand constant rotational stress, ongoing chlorine and balancing chemical exposure, and contact with sand and debris drawn into the cleaner, holding up through the full pool service season without deformation or tooth wear.
- Practical Repair Over Cleaner Replacement: Swapping in a fresh set of small drive gears rather than replacing the entire AquaNaut or PoolCleaner unit is a quick, affordable repair path that restores complete cleaning performance, making the SW-61-008 a practical solution for both pool service techs managing customer cleaners and DIY homeowners maintaining their own pool equipment.
